College of Fisheries and Aquaculture Technology CFAT, awards a Bachelor’s degree in Science of Fish Resources “Fisheries Technology Program” that is Internationally Accredited by the Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency in Germany – ZevA and recognized by the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities.
The program is also approved by the Egyptian Authority for Maritime Safety that qualifies the college graduates to apply for the seaman’s book “marine passport” under the title of "Officer in charge of a navigational watch on fishing vessels".
CFAT is keen to keep pace with developments in the international labor market and the increasing market demand for graduates with multiple experiences, knowledge and sufficient practical training.

Admission Requirements

From the science section or math section.

a) The Certificate from KSA
– The certificate must be a scientific section (semester or credit system )+شهادة القدرات
– Exclude the unqualifying subjects:
Ex: Islamic Subjects, Physical Education, Behavior, Attendance, Military Education and National Education.
b) Other Arabic Certificates
– Exclude the unqualifying subjects:
Ex: Islamic Subjects, Physical Education, Behavior, Attendance, Military Education and National Education.

  • Students must achieve 12or 11 years of schooling.
  • Accepted scores must be taken during not more than 4 successive years after grade 9.
  • The subjects must be “extended” not “core” curriculum
  • The students must take 8 O levels subjects + 1 AS or AL (Math or Biology)
  • The 8 subjects must include the following qualifying 5 subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and English and any other 3 subjects, e.g.: Geography, Accounting, … etc.
  • The minimum grade for O level is (C/4) and for AS or AL is D
  • Students must achieve 12 years of schooling.
  • Students must pass in 8 subjects (not repeated) with a minimum one credit for each subject.
  • 40% is taken from the selected 8 subjects.
  • Maximum 2 subjects from grade 10
  • Maximum 4 subjects from grade 11
  • Minimum 4 subjects from grade 12 and maximum 8 subjects
  • Students must submit a minimum SAT 1 / ACT 1 / EST score of 800.
  • SAT 2/ ACT 2 / EST2 with minimum score of 900. The 8 subjects must include the following 5 qualifying subjects:   Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics & English.
  • SAT 2 /ACT 2/EST 2 one of the 2 subjects is Biology or Math and the other is one of Chemistry or Physics.

Major
CFAT has developed the four-year study plan of Fisheries Technology to include a set of scientific, laboratory and navigational courses that all contain the most recent knowledge in each discipline, besides trainings and field visits for students, both inside or outside Egypt, in order to enable students to compete locally & internationally.
The study has also started in M.Sc. program in Sustainable Management of Fisheries and Aquaculture (SMFA), approved by the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities, and by ZEvA, Germany.

• The college is equipped by a unique marine fishing simulator that allows students to efficiently and safely train on fishing vessel maneuvering at different climatic conditions in multiple geographical areas while using most modern fishing methods.
• The college signed partnership with many funding organizations and entities of joint research projects, like: Food and Agriculture Organization of United Nations (FAO), the European Union and more.
Job Opportunities
• Taking into account the urgent need for qualified calibers, CFAT graduates are able to work as officers in charge of the navigational watch on fishing vessels by completing the ministerial requirements for practicing the profession.
• Acting as fisheries observers on fishing vessels and at landing harbours.
• Work in the areas of research and development in fisheries and aquaculture industry & within the specialized fish feed industry and in fish processing fields.
• Work for academic and research career entities in fisheries field.
