Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery

The study duration in the College of Medicine is 5 years (10 semesters) to grant the student the degree for obtaining the Bachelor Degree of Medicine and Surgery. This is followed by a mandatory two years for clinical training to obtain the professional license.

The study is divided into two phases

Phase One

The pre-clerkship phase extends over the first two years and is dedicated to studying the basic medical sciences in the form of courses for studying the different body systems in an integrated curriculum format.

Phase Two

The clerkship phase extends over the last three years and its curriculum is designed for the clinical medical sciences and clinical training.

a) The certificate from KSA
– The certificate must be a scientific section (semester or credit system) +شهادة القدرات
– Exclude the unqualifying subjects:
Ex: Islamic Subjects, Physical Education, Behavior, Attendance, Military Education, and National Education.
b) Other Arabic Certificates
– Exclude the unqualifying subjects:
Ex: Islamic Subjects, Physical Education, Behavior, Attendance, Military Education, and National Education.

IGCSE Certificate

For the medical school Students must achieve 12 or 11 years of schooling.
Accepted scores must be taken during not more than 4 successive years after grade 9.
The subjects must be “extended” not “core” curriculum.
For Medical Schools, the students must take 8 O-levels subjects.
The 8 subjects must include the following qualifying 5 subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and English and any other 3 subjects, e.g. Geography, Accounting ….. etc
The Minimum grade for O-level subjects is (C/4) and for AS or AL is (D).

American Diploma

Students must achieve 12 years of schooling.
Students must pass in 8 subjects (not repeated) with a minimum one credit for each subject.
40% is taken from the selected 8 subjects.
Maximum 2 subjects from grade 10
Maximum 4 subjects from grade 11
Minimum 4 subjects from grade 12 and maximum 8 subjects
Students must submit a minimum SAT 1 / ACT 1 / EST score of 800.
SAT 2/ ACT 2 / EST2 with minimum score 900. For the medical schools, the 8 subjects must include the following 5 qualifying subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics & English.
SAT 2 /ACT 2/EST 2 one of the 2 subjects is Biology and the other is one of Math, Chemistry, or Physics.

Job Opportunities

The program is approved by the Egyptian Supreme Council of Universities, hence all Egyptian graduates are candidate to apply for Egyptian Ministry of Health jobs and for the private sector as well.

International recognition of all colleges of Medicine in Egypt goes through the program accreditation by National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAEE), which is internationally recognized by the World Federation of Medical Education.
